Reading a lot of reviews for a better immersion blender. Not looking for anything fancy with attachments and stuff. I just want an immersion blender that does the job well. Speed settings are fine but I’d honestly be happy with one that has just two speeds

I don’t like the guards that have holes where crap can get stuck and then doesn’t blend.

I’m pretty pleased with my $25 Hamilton Beach from the Mart.

I'm quite happy with my Bamix. A few pointers if you go for Bamix:
-They come in different wattages... but since 140 and 160w version are only marginally cheaper I'd always go for the 200w version.
-The cordless version seems so weak at 60w I'd be surprised if it's anywhere near as good as the corded version.
-There's models with coiled wire and with straight wire. Get the coiled wire, it's really convenient.

That being said I'm in Europe so Bamix might be significantly cheaper / more available here than in the US. There's bound to be some local US brand with similar performance that's a bit more accessible. The few times I used a Dynamix they were also great, but since those are French it's probably a similar story to Bamix.

I have had Braun, Trudeau, Cuisinart and now Vitamix immersion blenders for home use.

The Braun lasted a long time until the shaft fell out.

The Trudeau fell apart way too quickly, and in a way that made any accessory it had useless. As a result value for money felt off.

The Cuisinart was decent and cheap, but the button lock to get it started was always annoying. Shaft fell out of this one, but it was cheap enough and had been used enough I didn't care.

Vitamix is one powerful heavy mofo. It's top heavy so easy to tip when standing up, and the plastic power cord is stiff which has pulled it over on me a few time. Only had it for a year so no idea of very long term use.

Thanks both. If it’s good enough for you two it’s good enough for me.

Jovidah. Ugh already bought before I saw your post. I just got a straight cord version, but whatever. I’ll survive. At least I got the 200w version.

I also have zero interest in a corded version. Not sure what safety features there are on the cordless version but nothing buys peace of mind like pulling out the cord.

If you can cancel the order I would. The price difference between straight and coiled wire is basically 0 but the difference in use is significant. There's a lot less snagging of cords with the coiled version... and it's a lot less spaghetti when storing it. I'd genuinely pay 50 bucks more for the coiled wire if that was the premium for it. I don't know why they even bother to make straight wire models when the coiled ones are blatantly superior.

noted thank you sir. yes... I might as well try. I mean it's not cheap item so if I can get the "best" set-up including the coiled cable then why not?!?

I've had the straight cord for more than 10 years. Been used in both my home and several pro kitchens. Never knew it was a problem.

Without wishing to hijack the OP's thread, for those who've used the Bamix, is it worth going for the M250 over the M200? And is the mini-processor durable enough to be functional?

You're welcome. I've provided you with a free excuse to buy a new toy!
The straight cord is still a great stick blender... it's just that once I've used a coiled wire one I had one of those 'where have you been all my life'-experiences.

Can't tell you about the 250... I think they're fairly new; back when I bought mine 200 was the top-end.
The mini-processor... if you're talking about that small spice-grinder processor thingy... eh... 'not great, not terrible'. Wouldn't spend a fortune on it that's for sure, but mine came with it for free. It's alright for dried herbs, but with dried whole spices it starts to struggle a bit (for example coriander seeds leaves some chunks).
If you're talking the bigger processor thing (SliceSy)... I've never used one but when I dug for reviews the few I could find were less than stellar.

FWIW if you're not in a hurry, at least over here you can usually find nice sales on bamix + a good set of accessories around black friday. Is pretty much the only time I see them on sale here, but they go on sale pretty consistently that time of year.

I use this one: https://a.co/d/ck3DkE5

I can’t do corded ones because my main prep area at home is nowhere near an accessible outlet. It does the job, but I have two issues with it:

1. It doesn’t feel powerful. It has issues getting going into frozen fruit +liquid for smoothies. I imagine this might be the case for a lot of cordless ones, though.

2. The battery life is absolute *******. It can get through making two smoothies before it needs a recharge.

I can live with both of these issues though, and I got it for like 50% off, so it was good value.

FWIW Bamix advertises their cordless model at 60w. Doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence...though admittedly I never used one.
Price is almost twice as much as their corded 200w models.

Got the blender. Works great!!! Customer service not so good. Tried to replace with coiled wire but they never got back to me and it shipped so fast….. overall, still pleased

I've got a kitchenaid cordless stick mixer, and it's great. Battery lasts for at least 20mins of runtime. Mine is different from yours, but maybe you got a dud. Going cord free was the best thing

I'm using a Kenwood for a few years now, it's good enough but at times I wish I'd gone for a Bamix if anything for ease of mind fearing to miss out on better performance ;-)

Rated wattage may not be all, that is; unless it is power at the mixer end and not power consumed that is what is shown. The 200W AC motor might be as powerful as the DC motor in the battery version, in the cup that is.
