For those of you that have purchased one or more Kawakita sharpened knives, what have been your impressions? And what have been your favorite lines? Zahocho and Migoto seem to have released some Nakagawa x Kawakita in the past that look interesting, though no idea if they will release more. I'm trying to find something that might be readily available in the next few months. Thanks!

Many people believe Kawakita is the sharpener behind the Hitohira pseudonym Rikichi. So any Hitohira knife sharpened by Rikichi should be him in theory. They are in stock in some stores such as Carbon Knife Co. It seems they have some Blue #2 and White #2 in stock.

I’ve got a Migoto white 1 sharpened by kawakita and it’s a good performing knife. It’s one I sold, then missed it and bought it back when I had the chance. I wouldn’t put it with kippington level performance, but these do really well in the kitchen. Not much trouble with dense stuff and decent food release.

ones from migoto where pretty heavy because of the handle and decent spine thickness throughout. The edges are super thin. Think thicker spine with hado wide bevel

I have a really impressive knife that stands about 57-58 millimeters tall—it's the same knife that Fred from Zahocho used in his reel. Nakagawa and Kawakita make an amazing team!

I picked up a Gorobei x Rikichi 210mm from Protooling a couple months back and it's been very fun to use. Fairly generous, asymmetrical convex grind (right hand bias) to a fairly thin edge. Overall feel is pretty lasery and the food release is surprisingly decent given the profile. This is a pretty thin model though (a little under ~2mm spine thickness and almost zero taper until the tip), so it may not give you a great comparison if you're interested in a thicker or more taper focused knife like what I'd expect from a Nakagawa or Y. Tanaka collab. Still, I would say it is well done and I have him on my radar for future pickups.
