I wanted to create a page for people to post pictures of thier knifes with bog oak handles. I've owned quite a few now and love how different every piece can be.

Here is a picture of 3 that I happened to bring to work today.

240x52 stainless clad gyuto from Rob/the.nine. The core steel is 1.2519

180x55 mono steel nakiri ( i have to xheck the steel) from Janis/Xerxes

150mm petty in AEB-L from the one and only Tony LaSuer

I know it's not bog oak, but the "ancient" redgum eucalyptus I cut recently for the blank blades group buy:

This is a similar process that what bog oak goes through, mineralization of the wood over hundreds/thousands of years, just on a different base species.

My petty from Rob has it. Really nice variations between browns and black:

That's one of the nicest pettys I've seen.

Not my knives, but I did do a couple custom bog oak monos for some fellow kkf members.

This one was a natural one to match an existing stabilized handle on a Birgersson.

And another with a more matte finish. Bog oak is a great material in that it is capable of taking a very high polish, but looks just as good with a flatter one.

Figured I'd throw an update of all my bog oaked blades in here. From left to right the knives are Takada no Hamono, Simon Maillet, Tetsujin, Simon Lönsted, Joel Black X3, No Joke Knives, Shi.han. The non mono handles are the two with myrtle burl bodies made by letshandlethis, and one with a reindeer horn ferrule (with big oak from the sunk Swedish warship the Vasa). Also the TnH mono handle was made by @tostadas. Still possibly the most comfortable to use handle in my entire collection.

240 Laseur 52100 S grind with bog oak. Tony’s work is just impressive.

Tamarind tree is doing its seasonal leaf drop thing again. Always concerning but usually fine.
