This is the beginning of thinning the edge by hammering it down, this also hardens the material at the edge.
 
Looking good so far, I am really interested on the progress, and final performance, of this.

Do you heat the bronze to hammer or just work it cold?
 
Having worked with a lot of bronze architectural applications, I can't imagine it's use for anything other than a letter opener. Thoughts anyone?
