So I've seen these sort of suminigashi rosettes occasionally. They pop up every now and then on takayuki knives and can be seen on Kaiden knives.
Does anyone know if these particular to a specific blacksmith or of it's a more common technique. Also, does anyone know where else these can be found?

Afaik you make them by drilling partway into the stack after the first weld, then forging flat

damasteel do a similar pattern too
