Always a little tricky to second guess cotis, but (unless it’s unbelievably hard)… that looks a complete gem.

A Coticule from Ardennes Coticules, a stone I love for sharpening ! About 5k. 200x75mm. Vein is "la grise".
I use it with a little coticule nagura, vein from "la veinette" (I think my favorite, I had a full size stone... sold it few years ago
)It makes knives sharp !

This thread needs a bump. Here’s a little natural combo. 14 inches long, 3 5/8 wide, and a hair over 1 1/2 thick.

Thanks. It’s a fun stone to hone on, but despite all of that runway I still find myself only using 6-7 inches of it.
My inner child is screaming… but I see what you mean. My most used coti (only have 2) is 7x1.5

The transition line is breathtaking, is this an LPB?
It’s a vintage so it’s hard to say, but it definitely could be. Yes that transition is wild, and it’s consistent all the way around.
I just finished cleaning up a new one. The dry pictures are too washed out with the way the sun was, but these wet ones I'm pretty happy with:

I imagine the sparkles are magnesium inclusions?
Spessartine garnet; there aren't visual indicators of manganese on this particular stone.

I’ll play. Not as huge, but a very cool stone, probably finishes the finest of any I’ve personally run across, so nice for razors.

Do the black bits affect the stone’s use?
They're more likely to break along them, but in general, they shouldn't affect use.
