Talking of Vintage Burger Joints, My first Hamburger & Fries was Smitty's Better Burger I was 7 years old when they opened in 1956. Corner of Sinclair Road & North King St. Not far ride on my bicycle. Did good business all the military from Langley Air Force Base. My Father supported us 5 kids working at Langley NACA from 1939. Became NASA when Russians sent up sputnik.

Smitty's is still there got my sister to send me a T Shirt. My only Hampton T shirt got plenty from Hawaii.

You made me think of KC Drive-In, where the waitress came to the cars in roller skates. Memories from Hawaii.

Prices at McDonald’s in Honolulu:
* $5.29 for this spicy, cheesy, four patty belly filler
* $7.79 for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese

It really shows the difference in pricing in various locations when I look at this.

$5.29USD current exchanges to $7.77CAD.

For ~$7.30CAD ($5.08USD), I can order at my local McD either a Double BigMac (4 patty Big Mac) or a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. $7.89CAD ($5.49USD) gets me the BLT Quarter Pounder or for $8.49CAD ($5.91USD), I could order a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

"The big mac index was invented by The Economist in 1986 as a lighthearted guide to whether currencies are at their 'correct' level."

We get Burger King commercials streaming TV. Sale prices lower than Hawaii. A Whopper value meal is 10.00 with coupon I remember when it was 5.00 without coupon. 1990's. Always got Ice Tea instead of soda.
In the early ‘00s they had a Mushroom Swiss Whopper that I found really good. Shame it did not make the permanent menu.

Triple bacon stacker with cheese from Five Guys. It used to be cheaper than now and I’m a little sad about that… but dang did this hit. I requested them to leave the patties unsmashed so it was still a bit juicy inside. Ugh.
