The main reason as I understand it is to not re-rail or clutter up someones BST.
Since some people get way to heated or emotional for their hobbies, especially on the internet, having an open discussion on someones sales thread is simply not the place.
If there needs to be a place for that is up to debate, personally if something is imo priced to high I might scratch my head and then just move on and ignore it.
I don't feel the need to comment on everything I see and not agree with it., especially if I don't plan to buy the product in question anyways.
If you want to go ahead and list your costs to justify your price on a BST thread in order to avoid being called a flipper, then do that and problem solved.
100% agree with that.
Baffles my mind how little information people are giving with the intend to sell sometimes, not only regarding their pricing, but the items itself.
That said - with how niche this hobby is, I am pretty sure people who stand out with their sales negatively will get avoided in no time anyways.

Rarity alone doesn't increase price. The item needs to be in demand and wanted also.
Demand is the big one. TnH aren't rare but go for very high prices due to being harder to get, especially now, and overall demand. Eddworks aren't very rare, but one sold on BST a few weeks ago before pictures or even specs of any kind were posted. That kinda blew my mind. Hype and demand make people do crazy things

FOMO

Some of you sure get wound up over the price of a knife you have no intention of buying. I know, I know, serving the greater good and trying to protect a poor, hapless potential buyer and all that. I know. Nothing to do with drama for drama's sake I'm sure.

If only the issue of debating prices in BST threads hadn't been discussed a gillion times already with Admin being very clear on their position each time.

Good grief.

Does everyone feel better now? Can we move on?

Someone go post something political so one of us mods can hurry over and lock/delete it in the KKF way.

Do we have to? I mean this is the thread for it.

Also pineapple pizza is the only right kind of pizza. Come at my boyos

I think, if you read through 112+ pages of this thread, then 3 things become clear

1. everyone has their own definition of what is considered flipping
2. there are obvious cases that no one can argue that this is flipping.
3. no one will be able to agree on what is actually considered flipping

imo, this specific situation (if i take parties at face value) is NOT flipping for 2 reasons. 1 knife has discontinued for at least 6-7 years. 2. Person who is selling is selling it for less than they put into getting it.

there is a lot more that could be said on the whole topic but for above stated reasons, it's just one persons opinion.

Im looking for an eddworks and would be happy to be overcharged / ripped off if you call it that. A flipper enabler if you would. Still cant find one that someone will let go of.....

Oh I'm fine with an up charge. Call it a finders fee. I was more talking about saying "I'll take it" before getting a lick of info about the knife, seems a bit too desperate. My unicorn is a KU wrought clad Milan gyuto. Id still want pics and specs before saying I'll take it.

Also a good way to get scammed by account hijackers. Has happened numerous times.
