The thing is, back then I would have still bought the wrong knife... Late 90's, early 00's I was completely ignorant of what a good cutter actually was.

Then I did some cutting with a friend's (still a working chef) Yoshikane. Pretty well made it clear where I'd be spending a lot of $$ in the future.

In LBC? Just the usual big city stuff. Definitely more mellow than downtown L.A. though. LBC is like a small, big city in my opinion.

San Pedro has definitely calmed down/gentrified in the past 5 or so years.
