Found an old english carbon knife - any info on it?

Im moving from my old house an went though a lot of stuff left there by the previous owner. Found this english knife which, judging by the rust, is carbon. Has quite a taper and is really really thin.

Anybody knows anything about it? What is it made for?

Gonna restore it, seems ideal to spread butter on bread.

The blade seems very similar to the 'Buckels', traditional German knife used with a bread meal.

Certainly does. So it's for bread and butter. Seems like it can get screaming sharp.

That's what I'd call a table knife from the old days. I've been looking for one to use for just what you plan on using it for; butter and jelly on toast, mayo and mustard on sammiches...
