Troy was indeed very prompt in his reply; he had a Nagahiri, he was UK based, he wanted 200USD , he had the original red box he sent some pictures, here is one of them

This is the source of the Mazaki nashiji nakiri picture - lovely unusual handle for a Mazaki (which made the search take 2 minutes to find), nothing like the one I have in its original black box in my cupboard.

The various FB groups aren’t much better but yeah, the r/chefsknives now has over 170k subscribers. It was like 50k 2 years ago. So many yahoos over there with a “I sharpened a Gyuto once, I’m an expert!” attitude.

edit: I just noticed the black glove too, to suggest that he actually made some part of it.

Don't forget the saya that didn't fit that also had the handle cut out the size of a medium sized tree branch.
