Hi everyone,

I'm new here and, to sum up, my knife background is about me constantly falling from a rabbit hole to another. What a great journey! I really like to learn and try new stuff :)

It all started with me bushcrafting in the Swiss mountains, a knife is a must. Then you need to be able to sharpen it and what about fast and light trek? You need a lighter one. Fixe blade? foldable? Thick? Thin? Stainless or carbon? Convex? droppoint?
Long story short I started experimenting geometry with all the kitchen knifes that comes in range and once I discovered how much I prefer food prep with a sharp knife... here I am hahah

I learned that there is no perfect knife, but preferred knifes for a specific job. Usually, the most essential and balanced knifes for a multitude of Job is what I prefer, but using a knife conceived for the task you need it is just so satisfying!

I'm looking for yours advices and opinions, but I'll be also glad to help if I can. Nice to meet you!

Welcome. Which bushcrafting knives are your favorites?

Thanks for the welcome!

I really like my Condor Terrasaur as a beater and my TRC South Pole as my main knife, paired with a foldable saw.
I converted a meat clever for chopping but I mostly use ground branches so... never used it for "serious" bushcraft.
My dream is to try a GiantMouse ACE Sonoma V2, but for the moment I can't pull the trigger. Mostly because I can't afford them right now. Meanwhile I love the Opinel knifes I custom myself. I have added what I like from the sonoma. They are lighter and way cheaper hahaha (I'm not a maker, I just like to custom my stuff for my needs)

That said, my first hand experience with differents bushcraft knifes is limited. I'm still experimenting with those I got and love. I think for bushcraft once you have a good knife you like, the technique and practice are just way more important to let you enjoy the woods.

Hi - that’s a very nice self-introduction. I’m fairly new here myself, and I have found that the membership is 49% people who ask questions, 49% people who answer questions, and 2% people who drink beer for breakfast. Kidding of course - welcome!
