I got these knives because I've never seen this style before. Does anyone know what kind of knife they are?

Not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were skinning/meat processing knives. That heavy curve toward the tip is often indicative of a knife used for butchering. Could be wrong though.

Butchery/skinner was my pick as well. I've seen similar shapes in Chinese butchers knives but I've not seen one like this from Japan.
