    1. You must be a supporting member (or vendor/hobbyist) to be able to upload images directly from your hard drive to KKF.

    2. If you are a supporting member and still having problems then check your image types and/or file sizes to see if they comply with our maximum allowed dimensions.

    To avoid screen blowout; if an image being uploaded is larger than the maximum allowed dimensions (file-size) an attempt to resize the image will be tried, however, this may fail if the image is too large to be successfully processed or if the image type is not supported for resizing. If the image can be resized it will be proportionately resized to the maximum dimensions for that image type.

    KKF's image processing library supports the following file types: GIF, JPEG, and PNG

    Maximium file sizes allowed
    :

    JPEG = 1GB or 1024x768

    GIF = 20KB or 800x600

    PNG = 1GB or 1024x768

    Resized images will be converted to JPG images to conserve space.

    Resizing conversions are as follows:

    JPEG => JPEG
    PNG => JPEG
    GIF => JPEG

    3. If you are using the "Go Advanced" reply option you can use the "Manage Attachment" feature which will allow for thumbnails to be inserted into the bottom of your post. Thumbnail size is 600pixels but will show full size images (in another window tab) when clicked upon.

    Directions...
    Go Advanced> Manage Attachments> Add Files> Select Files> Upload Files

    Q: What should I do if my images are too large for uploading?

    A: Resize them before uploading. Better yet even, use the settings on your camera to adjust the size of the image being recorded to what is supported here.

    Q: What do I do if my images are the wrong file type for uploading?

    A: Convert them to the correct file type before uploading. Better yet, use the settings on your camera to record your image in a file type that is supported here.

    Q: I'm inserting an image into a post and I receive a message saying "Attachment XXXXX" instead of my inserted image showing, what is going on here?

    A: See the above first two Q&A's

    Lately, none of my images post up. :eyebrow:

    Just wondering why for some threads we aren't given an option to add attached images. For example, I can add images to other posts but not to Devin's thread about parers. Can vendors set their rules for uploading?

    I have trouble with the actual pic displaying the first time. I usually have to go back, delete the link, and re-post in order to see the image.

    K, your usergroup wasn't enabled to attach images in about 1/2 of the vendor forums. You telling me where the problem was made it easy for me to find and fix, thanks.

    PSA;
    Do NOT load photos using the image upload if you ever want to be able to delete those images in the future. I've never participated a forum with image upload before where I couldn't have complete control over my own images. I've gone back and forth with Ryan over the last several weeks. Multiple times I've been told the images I wanted to clean out of my account would be deleted but as of yet this has not happened. Just use Photobucket or one of the other FREE photo sites that will allow you to always have control over your account Vs loading images from your hard drive.

    An Illustrated How-to for Using Images Uploaded to Dropbox in Your Posts.

    =============

    Upload your images to Dropbox, then click on the paperclip link labeled "Share link" that appears when you hover the mouse pointer over the file.

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.35.19 PM.jpg

    This will open up a new window displaying the image you want to use.

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.38.26 PM.jpg

    Right-click the "Download" button to display the context menu.

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.38.06 PM.jpg

    Click on "Copy Link" to copy the link address to the clipboard.

    Now return to the post you are editing on KKF, and click the "Insert Image" icon in the editor toolbar.

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.38.53 PM.jpg

    This will bring up the "Insert Image" dialog box. Click the tab for "From URL".

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.39.22 PM.jpg

    Paste the link you copied to the clipboard in the space for the URL, and uncheck the box labeled "Retrieve remote file and reference locally". Click "OK".

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.39.52 PM.jpg

    Your post should now have the link you copied enclosed between two IMG tags

    Screen Shot 2013-12-24 at 9.40.10 PM.jpg

    Click on "Go Advanced" to preview the image.

    Use the image address, not the URL of the page. Right click on the image, copy the address, then paste it. Nice cleavers! Is that a Harner in the middle?

    Yep, it's a Harner, terrible pic, but the handle is incredible. Super fortunate to get it from Butch. Fits my hand like it was molded for it.

    Not sure why the pix wouldn't load, dropbox wasn't working for me, but photobucket worked fine. Weird. Either way, thx for the help but got it sorted, more pix over at; http://www.kitchenknifeforums.com/showthread.php/20833-West-coast-collection

    On my phone, using the Android app, the image insert is much easier than than on laptop. Key is image must be on phone, in gallery or camera. Dropbox does not work for me on phone but works well on the puter.

    Working with App and filling out text there is a small "+" sign next to the text box. Click there and top of screen will reconfigure so pull down menu at right will allow "insert smiley", "insert image", and a couple other options. Clicking on insert image will take you to "From gallery" or "From camera". Find the image on your phone and you're golden.

    I could not get images to insert with phone via the desktop version, only with the app. Still can't insert anything with Kindle.

    Don't know what the Apple lemmings do. :cool2:

    I am having trouble inserting images from my phone on the app and from my pc. On the phone, all I see is "insert image link". I'm not seeing where you can insert pictures from your gallery or camera. And when I uploaded a picture on my pc using Dropbox, I could see the images on my pc but not on my phone (neither on the app or the regular site). I'm terrible with this stuff... Any ideas?

    On the above via Android phone. I went to this thread, reply, tapped the 3 dots on the upper right hand side. Attach Picture, Went to GAllery on my phone, (could have gone to camera). Then found the photo and clicked it. It will show, and on the top of screen you will see UPLOAD AS on the left, and on the right ATTACHMENT. Tap ATTACHMENT.

    Then you will see where you can write your message above the attachment, which is now showing as a number and tiny photo.

    Once you have your message, click the arrow at the top that points to the right. That will post the photo.

    Go to three dots on upper screen area. Choose reply. Get an advanced type message area. At bottom of message area is a camera or photo icon. Chose photo icon and it will take you to saved photos. Choose and upload.

    This is from IPad with App.

    It must be my phone... I have a Sony and nothing seems to work like it should lol. When I hit the three dots, all I get is "insert smile", "insert URL" or "insert image link". Well my Verizon upgrade is in December and I definitely will not be getting another Sony! Hopefully I'll have better luck then haha
