Hello everyone! After more then two years of lurking I felt it was time to join this awesome community.
I am a homecook and a little bit of a collector I guess, moving from japanese to more western makers recently.

My sharpening skills are becoming decent and I am starting to look into polishing more and more...still hoping not to fall into the depths of natural rock hunting...as I can see it may or may not become even more expensive then the whole knife hobby as it is

Looking forward to meeting new people and sharing my experiences, with lots of years more to come with this hobby.
Cheers

Welcome aboard!
Have a look at the huge archive.
Rather than using the site's search engine, I prefer Google's 'site:'-function. E.g. search

Willkommen Tatze!
Which western makers did you try and what are those beautiful blades from your profile picture?
Cheers
Jens
Danke dir! :)
So far I had the chance to try a Markin (which already made me want a custom) and a Birgersson. Also looking into Milan and wanting to try a Heldqvist!
Those two knifes in the picture are my Shihans, one 52100 clad and the other one being a small AEBL one.

Nice! Would love to have a Shihan.
Like your choice of western makers.
Looked into Birgersson and Markin for my last purchase, a nakiri but well, Birgersson unfortunately does not take custom orders at the moment so I chose another smith.
And a Milan is always desirable! If it wasn´t so expensive!

Great to have more Europeans! I'm in the UK myself and welcome.
