Withdrawn Ikazuchi 240mm, Takamura Chromax 210mm

Both bought last week, someone convinced me to buy another awesome Yoshikazu Tanaka blue#1 gyuto(Sakai Kikumori -Yugiri-)and is coming this week, 3 purchases in 10 days seems too much, so have decided to narrow it down.

The blade features full convex grind, pretty similar to the Hd2 I had except more thinner behind the edge than Hd2. This one has blade heavier feeling, does have more robust cutting feel compared to other Lasers I’ve tried. Been using it for the past week but never sharpened by me, still sharp(Jon did the initial sharpening for me)I really liked to keep this one if It doesn’t sell, the F&F is perfectly done by Jon as well an upgraded water resistance handle, the knife overall feels really comfortable to hold. This is my 2nd AS gyuto, felt liked the edge holding ability is better than the first AS I’ve tried.


Takamura Chromax 210mm stainless clad( semi stainless core steel 65 HRC) $130, $125, very tempting price when I heard about this knife, only been using it for 1 shift, never sharpened, I decided to let it go because it’s just too small/short for some tasks.

I can also do a package deal for $300 $280 together shipped CONUS, photo taken when it was new, will update current conditions and specs later.

Ikazuchi 240mm with burnt Ho wood, the spine and choil are perfectly rounded by Jon, only slight patina formed, I can clean up the patina if needed. If you prefer forward heavy laser with more robust cutting feel, this is what you looking for.

I also requested rounded spine/choil for this one but it wasn’t rounded when I received it, so I rounded the choil and middle part of the spine myself with sand paper, it’s not perfectly rounded but is comfortable to hold compared to when I first received it.
