Going to be listing a few goodies on the knife side shortly, and thought I'd list this nice rock too. Priority for the other stuff will be given to anyone who wants to take this as well.

I grabbed this from @ethompson's, ah, controversially deleted sales post in February. It's my first j-nat and I was hoping to try my hand at polishing – I was drawn by Edward's description of "point and shoot kasumi finishes".

Sadly, it literally hasn't so much as touched a drop of water since I bought it because it turns out that rubbing pointy bits of metal on a rock is kind of low priority when you have a rambunctious toddler and two simultaneous kitchen renovations. 😂

Hopefully Edward won't mind me copy and pasting from his post below. No video or photos of results from me for reasons above, and unfortunately you can't refer to the video in the deleted post.

Aesthetics
Deep purple coloring with forest green mottling and yellow namazu - really gorgeous stone. The kawa on the bottom is robins egg blue with ochre and cream splotches throughout. The stone has been sealed in multiple thin layers of cashew so the coloring on the side and kawa now takes on an amber tone.

Performance (Sharpening & Polishing)
This stone is soft, muddy, and on the coarser side of Kyoto area awasedo (about 5k). It is incredibly easy to use and will never need a nagura or diamond plate to get started. While relatively thirsty at first, once the top layer is saturated it will yield thick ribbons of creamy mud. If you like sharpening on softer stones (King, Gesshin 1200 / 6k / Ouka, etc) this will be your darling. It also does a great job leaving an incredibly even finish and will do a good job hiding even 1k scratches. Point and shoot kasumi finishes. Not going to be your best bet for very detailed polishes. It can feel a bit gluey on very soft wrought iron, but for hard core or honyaki, mild steel clad, stainless, and plain iron its great.

Shame you’re not using it, it’s a nice one - I originally purchased at auction for more than the asking price. Almost positive I sealed this one in cashew.
