Just posted something in the "What's cooking?" thread.

The image was re-sized to 450 x 600 pixels. That's awfully small, would it be possible to be a bit more generous here? I don't expect 20 mega-pixel images; but it would be nice to have something more reasonable, such as 1600 on the longer side?

    i agree fully!!

i actually think there was a period not too long ago when the pics we uploaded as files were bigger. like 1x1k or so.

and also i see many sites compress the sh1t out of pics so even if they are 10mp in pixels they're like 90kb big :) :) :) and thats just retarded plain and simple.

i'd say around 1024xwhatever and only very minor compression would be nice. and a 1x1k is not gonna be that big anyway like half a meg or so. at most. uncompressed.

i just checked one of my own 50% resized pics and its 1900x1300 from an old 10mp slr camera, and it comes out as 900kb with no compression at all. so.
original is 3,5mb. so 500kb would be fairly good limit, 1x1k or so.

    imho..

    set for 8KB

    was 800 x 600 making it 1200 x 900.

I have no idea where the 450 x 600 came from as that has never been a size for images here.
    the thumbnail is 300 x 300.

will there be size restriction/compression when viewing them "fullsize"? and if so how big?

I don't think there will be a limit on full size. But if it's over 8mb it will not upload. If you run into that, let me know.

i think its a good size. very few will hit the ceiling size wise i think. unless they try to upload fullsize 20mp jpeg pix from new slrs or so. those can be up to 20mb. and there is no need to post 6x4k pix imo.

a 10mp jpeg from my slr is only 3mb or so. and shrunk down to 25% in pixels with no compression its only 400kb.

so a good quality uncompressed pic at 1k x 600 or so is only about 400kb. well except for the actual jpeg compression.
