Is there an option to not include/see bst threads when clicking on new posts?

    Just curious if this is an option, i occasionally check out bst but it always seems almost like spam when browsing in the new posts because it can fill half of the posts. Hope that makes sense, it's late...

    Cheers

    @Angie - can you have a look at whether something like that would be possible?

    I do not see an action to see if it works or not. I think I'm seeing that maybe not showing B/S/T in new post, but I'm not sure that's what's being asked.

    AFAIK BST posts are hidden automatically [when you view 'find-new-posts'] without logging in.

    edit: for clarity

    I have just made it where not logged in members can see the B/S/T forum.

    Thanks but that's the exact opposite of what I'm asking:(...i would prefer these posts be hidden...

    Thanks

    Do you want to never see B/S/T? I can block those forums for you, but then you'll never see them unless logged out. There is not "see this forum" option unless I block it for you.

    No but thanks...just frustrating when clicking new posts and often finding these to be an annoyingly high percent of the posts...seems less forum and more marketplace...I'm not familiar w the software but say if there were 2 options...new posts and new bst posts...people constantly refreshing for new sales posts wouldn't have to dig through all the annoying knife talk;)

    I think the fix might be something like

    >show new {...}
    >Let {...} include forums {a.b.c} but not {d}

    It was already in place to do this by persmissions (exclusions),

    I think what ChinaCats is pointing out tho is
    The downside of old approach was/is limits the ability to
    interact with the "whats new" view since
    login credentials are required to post/interact, etc.

    It doesn't sound like you can control this behavior on a user by user basis. In general "New Posts" should be all new posts in all the different sections not a subset. Would be nice if each user could customize "New Posts" view to only include the sections he wants, but the default, generic view should be all new posts.

    I would definitely like an option to see ALL new posts and new posts excluding BST (knife and non-knife).

    @chinacats you could use the ignore setting if you want to just not see all the flipper threads. BNIB shig western etc etc... Its really like the same 20-30 people.

    I just did a quick chek/test. Anecdotally, only 31 of the first 60 "new" posts were non-sales content...ie, 29 or the first 60 posts are BST related. A toggle feature being discused would ~double the "content" quality of page 1-2 in this example.

    17 posts page 1 => 30 posts page 1
    14 posts page 2 => 30 posts page 2

    True but sometimes, I'm just not interested in sale items. I'm fine with leaving it the way it is. Just would be a nice feature for when I'm not looking to buy.

    I would appreciate the option of excluding bst thread from new posts. I agree that it feels like filtering through spam. I’m almost exclusively just use the app on my phone.

    If not possible, it’s not the end of the world.

    The easy way out:

    Click on "Forums" -> "Buy/Sell/Trade (Knife Only)"
    Click on "MARK FORUMS READ" (on the BST page) and confirm on the dialog that pops up.

    Now, when you list new posts, you see everything except BST posts.

    Ya I too wish bst wasn’t in new posts... it’s not a huge deal but would be nice if it was an option to filter out

    Neat, that is a clever way to get the end results, since I cannot make this an opt in / opt out of B/S/T being in new threads.

    Thanks Craig and Michi!

    I've blocked most of those folks and marking as read works even though it adds a step.

    Cheers
