Bought some cloth scissors in san mai for my GF, she's extremely pleased with them where she usually makes fun of my knives (she sticks with her Global); 'this is the next level of cutting'

I have some like the one you pictured on the left, I find them a bit awkward so far, but probably just not used to that style.
that is a thread cutter only, the idea is that it's able to get real close to the cloth. It's pretty similar to old fashioned sheep shearing scissors ifI'm not misstaken.
 
I thought it might be good for herbs, but I'm not convinced yet.
I dunno, it was sold for thin threads but I don't see why it would not work for herbs (be it for the angle of the edge perhaps)
 
I use one for young herbs. Once things start to get thick, the going gets a bit rougher.

I have found nothing better for cutting thin, tough tapes, like first-aid tape, plumber's teflon tape, and kapton tape. Something about the geometry makes it not have the problem where the tape folds on itself instead of cutting.
