japan's adhesive stickers are STRONG!

wow. my wife bought several Chawamushi cups. they all had stickers on them. I warmed them all up, and once I felt the glue was softened, I proceeded with the care of a surgeon in picking at a corner. once I had a tag long enough to pinch, I take hold. tuuuuggg at it glacially slow looking for a slow release. it starts to come off and then.......phisssssshhhh, the sticker comes apart from the glue and I am left with a stupid gummy mess.

I almost had to resort to chemicals in the garage typically reserved for unclogging carburetors to get it off. I was 100% unsuccessful in a clean pull. hahahahah..the cussing was epic.

once I was done, I looked at all the Korean bowls she bought. grrrrrr...I think they import glue from Japan.

I usually rub some mineral oil (or whatever oil I have on hand) and let it sit for a bit to loosen up adhesive.

I’m generally a proponent of better living through chemistry.

(add) I like Tostadas’s hack. I’d add a bit of heat to the equation.

did you use water? dry heat works better since water messes up the sticker's integrity. i like using an adjustable heat gun or a hot air rework station for soldering. another solution is often more heat.

That usually works, as does mineral turpentine. But be careful with plastic surfaces. Strong solvents often dissolve those as well and leave an ugly blind area behind.

@parbaked had to remove them with a dremel and polish it up with finger stones
