I am in the market for this grit range also. Would be interesting to see how it compares to the Naniwa Aotoshi, the two you mentioned, and the $90 Natural Aoto Bernal sells.
 
That synthetic Blue aoto has been around quite a long time. Used to get pretty positive reviews overall, but has since been replaced with better options. JKI Jinzo Aoto, JNS Synthetic Red Aoto, JNS Synthetic Blue Aoto, etc.

I havnt used the stone in almost 10 years, but i remember liking the stone and almost bought it. Since, i got my hands on the JNS Synthetic Red Aoto which i really like.

Personally, i HATE the Naniwa Aotoshi. I only really use it on cheap stainless knives anymore. Dont like the feel, nor the finish it leaves, but it serves its purpose.
