Using Hitohira as a reference I noticed that the price of Jiro-san’s knives have significantly dropped since about August. I’m curious if anyone knows why that may be?
I did compare prices in JPY. A 225 Wa Gyuto manufactured in October is currently ¥15,000 JPY less than the ones manufactured in March.I just checked and they seem to be using an exchange rate of about 135:1.
Did you compare prices in jpy? If so no idea what happened. If not it could be the recently weak yen.
Not from where I'm sitting. They sell almost immediately.Guess the demand has dropped.
https://protooling.com.au/products/jiro-tsuchime-tagayasan-225mm-gyuto-knife-japaneseThe prices on the Hitohira website are make-believe. Hitohira does not sell Jiro directly to consumers. Look at the partner retailers for actual costs.
That is an excellent price. I paid $730 for my 240 from Carbonhttps://protooling.com.au/products/jiro-tsuchime-tagayasan-225mm-gyuto-knife-japanese
This 225mm dropped yesterday for $539 USD. All said and done the total (including shipping) was $561.56 USD. I could be wrong but that seems to be lower than what most people here have paid in the past.
For any website, the notification system is not immediate, and can have quite a delay. I am very confident in saying this sold in seconds, so very few, if any, notifications would get sent.Hmm, didn't get a notification from ProTooling on the Jiro. Does their notification system work/is good?
