Joel Black Emoji Kiritsuke Gyuto
222mm x 53.64mm
Steel: Sheffcut core with SF100 Cladding
Spine: heel 3.03mm, mid 1.68mm, ~1" from tip 1.47mm
Weight: 217g

Catch and release here. I've been wanting to try Joel's work and bought this on a whim, but it's not my cup of tea at 222mm and I think I'd prefer a fully carbon blade from him. That said, this is an interesting combo between Sheffcut/SF100 stainless steel as the SF100 is a razor steel similar to the AEB-L/14c28n family see more on each steel below the pictures. It arrived with a small dark spot near the tip that you can see in the second picture, but I left it alone as it seems stable. Paid $330.00 straight from Joel and asking $300.00 CONUS.

Core:
Sheffcut - update of 26c3 adding niobium for finer grain structure, better toughness, and better wear resistance over 26c3 clad in sf100

Cladding:
SF100 – Sheffield’s Stainless Steel. Originally conceived as a razor blade steel, SF100 is a fine-grained stainless steel, with a great combination of toughness, corrosion resistance, ease of resharpening and polishing. Similar in composition to AEB-L/13C26/14C28N it is a great cost-effective alternative.

Reminds me of a narrower Takeda k-tip for sure
It definitely has that look and that was my first thought upon opening. That said, it has a much more pronounced flat compared to the Takeda k-tips I've had. I tried to capture this in the last picture, but it didn't come out well. The flat extends for more than half the edge.
