Hey everyone, I have a chef knife with this kanji on it and I was curious if anyone else had a good way to translate it or if someone knows off hand what it is.

I tried google translate but I had no luck.

Thanks everyone!

菊元 - Kikumoto

Seems like a pretty obscure maker, they have no web presence and I can only find a few of their knives on auction sites.

If y'all want to try looking up kanji, this site is easy to use. Theoretically it's not necessary to know the stroke order, but in practice, more complex kanji will be impossible to find unless you do.

I didn't know this about stroke order and Kanji. You wouldn't be able to direct me to any sites that explain about the significance of it in more detail? (Or elaborate further yourself, if you can be bothered - I imagine it's a fairly long and complex subject!)
