    Hi everyone! I currently have a Honyaki available for sale.
    Specs are as follows:
    • 1095 carbon steel, differentially hardened
    • 230mm edge length
    • 58mm heel height
    • Laser grind
    • Curly Myrtle wood handle
    • Thin brass spacer
    • Handle held on with beeswax (removable for polishing)
    • $530 USD shipped worldwide

    Correct! It is quite tall and thin, as you can see in the choil shot.

    I agree, but a differentially hardened gyuto like that seems like a steal at that price.

    It weighs 225 grams, with the balancing point at the base of the feather.

    Yours is looking quite different! ;)
    I used the same clay method and pattern as the one sold in this thread, the only change was in the steel type to W2. This took many more attempts though.

    Wow, nice knife!

    I once purchased a nice piece of stabilized spalted Oregon myrtlewood from a KKF-vendor. Piece arrived, very nice warm colour. Over the following years it turned greyish. It changed colours completely. Doesn't bother me, quite the contrary. Love it even more!

    I need to check at home if I can find some pics before and after.
