At the end of the day, if you're happy with the knive(s) you have and how they perform, isn't that what matters the most?I'll likely never own a Kato and won't ever own a Denka so I guess I'm destined to tread the murky waters of "just good knives".
Life can be so unfair...
Yeah I saw it as available but it was gone before I could check outDid anyone get one / actually see it as available to purchase and not just sold out?
He wants it, he wins, I defer totally
It's called self preservation, you should try it sometime. Concede defeat on the knife front and claim victory in the wallet.“He wants it, he wins, I defer totally”
Amen. It's called self preservation, you should try it sometime. Concede defeat on the knife front and claim victory in the wallet.
Just saw this too and came here to advise everybody. Somebody here needs to get this immediately! Will Catcheside has an integral dammy for sale that he made years ago for 1100. I have its smaller sibling thats a keeper and I paid $1700 for it so its a bargain imo.

Surprised that this is still up
Also his apprentice was making a wrought iron gyuto but not sure if it's gonna be sold
I feel like this is the first time I’m seeing wrought from Japanese makers, are they discovering the western world loves it and finally getting in on it? Or do I just have absolutely no observational skills?Man that migoto drop was pretty lame. It was practically the day after he quoted on Instagram. I was up till 4am. Why couldn't he post it at a reasonable local time for him like 12-7pm or something instead of like midnight? Ah well no wrought for me.
Western demand is driving a good amount of new production. But there have long been super high end one off pieces made with watetsu / rentetsu (aka wrought) out there. Heiji, Tanaka, Tsukasa, Kato, all have some - sure there are more
