:Iagree: It's called self preservation, you should try it sometime. Concede defeat on the knife front and claim victory in the wallet.
Amen.

I moved so fast when the Migoto’s went live that I didn’t look at any info on the page at all.

I’m sure it would have been great, but I nearly paid £640+ for a knife by a blacksmith I’m not personally that familiar with, a sharpener I’m not that familiar with, and a potentially challenging right hand biased grind when I’m left handed.

Can’t think of many other applications where I’m that careless dropping such a significant amount of money…

Hmm, was that listing for all knives? Each one in the IG post was unique and the store post was for the one on the far left. I think he's dropping them piecemeal, but it's probably just my wishful thinking.

Will Catcheside has an integral dammy for sale that he made years ago for 1100. I have its smaller sibling thats a keeper and I paid $1700 for it so its a bargain imo.

I can understand why some are bummed about the Migoto drop but TBH I’d much rather have a wrought gyuto from a Western maker for the price. (This isn’t a dig at Lee. In fact, I’ve picked up just about all of his recent offerings as of late and love his work.) Then again, there isn’t really anything left from Japanese makers - barring a custom chuka or the Migoto Blue #1 chuka - that I would want to have in my rotation. Yes, this includes knives like the Kaiju, River Jump, Kato Damascus, etc.

Man that migoto drop was pretty lame. It was practically the day after he quoted on Instagram. I was up till 4am. Why couldn't he post it at a reasonable local time for him like 12-7pm or something instead of like midnight? Ah well no wrought for me.
I feel like this is the first time I’m seeing wrought from Japanese makers, are they discovering the western world loves it and finally getting in on it? Or do I just have absolutely no observational skills?
