I don't know if the forum supports wiki editing (I suspect it does not...)? That would would be my instinctual choice. Failing that - sticky threads??

It is funny you say that.... I was thinking about what questions a google form might contain. Properly specified questions could reveal some wisdom of the crowds type information. For instance if you asked the community their dietary pallet (mainly vegetables or meat ever meal), their proficiency (professional or home cook - or hours spent cutting a day) and what profile and length are their daily drivers, you might find some fun aggregate statistics.

If population statistics contain a decent wisdom - you could use this data to make recommendations. For example "I am a home cook, I eat a balanced diet with meat only twice a week. What profile and length suit me?". Maybe the demographic most similar to that questioner use a 180mm santoku 80% of the time...

On the point you raised... you could certainly run a poll on brands/smiths annually as well...

Ok I have a question. If some one gets a few knives recommended and then simply buys something else will that member then be banned or at least punished in some way? :)

Also why would we want to imitate cktg?? why?

Yes, a special counsel will be appointed and if found guilty they will be forced to use a dull Wusthof exclusively for 10 days. And of course we're not imitating CKTG, we're doing something infinitely better.

I'm thinking some kind of tribunal when users have violated the recommendations. with harsh harsh consequences.

Like having to binge-watch Rachel Ray for a week? Eat canned asparagus? Use a glass cutting board?
