Knives have been traded and sold (see table below).

The Kato STD has been withdrawn for now. Thank you to everyone who made such generous trade offers.

I’d like to trade one or more of the following and primarily looking for:
  • Kippington 210-270 in any steel or grind — lightly used 240ish WP and/or 210ish LP preferred, but flexible Traded with the Jiro - thank you KKF!
Highly improbable, but I wouldn’t say no if you dangled in front of me:
  • Bidinger B Grind Magnacut (or other stainless) in any length Acquired
  • Kamon Massdrop (or dark heritage handled denty) Acquired
  • The 9 that @enrico sold while I was off getting drunk on tsipouro
Happy to offer/receive cash to offset any difference in trade value. If there were a difference in my favour, I could also consider receiving as makeweights:
  • Gesshin Heiji Semi Stainless 210 suji kind of really want one of these or 240 gyuto
  • Gengetsu 240
  • Shi.Han anything in KU AEB-L (especially 150-210)
  • Dalman anything in AEB-L
  • Markin 175+ in S110V/M390/K390/Vanadis 8
  • HSC 175+ in ApexUltra
  • Spåre bread sword
  • Takeda AS/NAS large cleaver
  • Mikami 165/170 wo-bocho
  • Konosuke MM 240 or 270 in any steel
  • One of those cute and surprisingly heavy 120 ryoba debas by Shiro Kunimitsu or Ikenami that KJ sells

My valuations are based on the prices I paid. As a sweetener, I’ve set my trade values so I’ll be taking a slight loss on my original purchase price. In most cases, what I paid was probably below what’s currently BST market value.

Sale price includes PP G&S fees. For buyers interested in fee-free payment methods, I’ll offer the knives at the discounted trade value. Either way, fully insured/tracked CONUS shipping is included. Open to shipping internationally; PM and we can discuss.

Thus begins my long journey to a more streamlined knife collection. A list of upcoming knives for trade/sale available upon request.

Konosuke Fujiyama FM Damascus Blue 1 240mm gyuto

Trade value: $985 (Sale value: $1095)

Lightly used. Never sharpened. Includes original packaging and saya.

Note the very small cosmetic flaw on the back side of the blade (not the engraved side). Per the original owner, the blade came with this imperfection when brand new. It is not pitting, rust or patina. It hasn't changed in size/appearance with use. It’s imperceptible by touch, and once there’s patina, it’s entirely unnoticeable. See photos/video with patina here if you’re curious. Also note that the cardboard knife sleeve is slightly damaged.

Kato STD Blue 2 240mm Gyuto

Trade value: $1200 (Sale value: $????)

Used and stropped but just touched up on the microbevel by a previous owner. Never thinned and the original geometry is intact. No packaging.

Probably the knife in this post that I’m most reluctant to part with. No idea how to set the sale value as recent Kato pricing has been a bit aggressive. I neither feel like flipping the knife myself nor passing it on at below-market for someone else to flip…which probably means it’s only for trade for the right knife and won’t be for sale.

Blacksmith/Sharpener: Kiyoshi Kato
Steel: Aogami 2/Soft iron clad
Edge length: 235mm
Heel height: 50mm
Thickness of spine at heel / midpoint / 1cm from tip: 4.5mm / 2.4mm / 0.8mm
Weight: 209g
Handle: Black horn and ho wood D
Purchased from enrico: SOLD - Kato 240 STD

Bonus knife for getting to the end of this post:

Toyama Noborikoi Damascus Blue 2 240mm Gyuto SOLD

Heavily used, thinned, and (imperfectly) refinished by previous owner — hence their generously discounted price. Small dings in ho wood handle. Unsharpened and barely used by me.

Blacksmith/Sharpener: Syuuji Toyama
Steel: Aogami 2/Soft iron damascus clad
Edge length: 240mm
Heel height: 49mm
Thickness of spine at heel / midpoint / 1cm from tip: 3.6mm / 2.5mm / 1mm
Weight: 222g
Handle: Black horn and ho wood D
Purchased from Tler here: WTS - Sale Off to fund purchases in Japan. Toyama, Kurosaki, Y. Kato, Kohetsu

Thanks for all the interest! I'm pretty sure I've replied to everyone who's reached out to this point, but please PM me again if I missed you.

I'm going to let this WTT continue to float for another day or so before moving onto sales. FYI there's a pretty long list for the FM and Suiboku 240s, so realistically they're already SPF if/when I sell them.

I've had some fantastic trade offers for the Kato, but my preference would still be to trade the FMs/Jiro/Suiboku for a Kipp if possible. I'll continue to leave this WTT open for now.

In the meantime, the Toyama is off to its new home so I've added another bonus knife. It has a Kono stamp. :)

Whoever bought the Konosuke Fujiyama FM Damascus. I’m very interested in buyin’ or tradin’ if you’re willing to let it go😊 Thanks
Best regarfs
Mikkel
