This is totally anecdotal but my YS-M (which is supposedly just a different finish than a YS) formed a patina differently than any SKD12/A2 I've touched, so I have doubts it's the same steel.
I can better compare now as I have SKD12/A2 (in the form of a an A2 Shihan) and just rebought a Kono YS
Well the Shihan A2 is usually etched. BTW the YS you posted looks a lot like the YS-M (I’m pretty sure) I had. Does it look any different than the one you had before?

My A2 from Shihan wasn't etched, although I have done a coffee patina on it.
As for the YS vs YS-M, to my recollection, the hammer marks look a bit different as well as the kurouchi is definitely different. It's been a while but I recall the YS-M was more black and had some other tone in it (but I may be remembering wrong)
Here is one though not sure which version that is (SLD): Konosuke
i bought the other knife from Harbeer and remembered this one.
if you ask nicely, maybe you get a discount too.
Other than that, Modern cooking has two Yoshikane SKD left: MCX
