After broke down chicken, let the knife sit a while. It started to put on a blue patina. Of coarse I'll polish it up before sell.

You can let it patina all the scratches, rust, etc
have been removed.

I'll give care instructions for these knives so you can use them from time to time. Proper care they will last another 100 yrs.

I like the died black stag handles look sharp with sterling silver collars. Clean them
with Armor All wipes. Can get into the crevasses. Some of natural color antler look really nice too have restored some in the past.

Like the clean not too crazy sections of antler
When blade & handle look in balance together.

I emailed them said they are not shipping to USA because of covid. Said look forward to taking order when things back to normal.

Only place I've seen 1910 model. I see the 1922
offered on sites but most are sold out. That's a nice blade too.

Uncertain how long Herder will produce them, as they are pushing series involving less working hours, like the K-series with stamped blades and simpler handels — they have a serious problem in training new staff.

Just ordered the 1910 from Germany. Contacted the makers & they gave me a site that had that particular blade. That's the Herder wanted. 😁

Was thinking of blades with bevels on spine near the tip. I knew had one somewhere. Found it had rust on the edge where had sharpened it years ago to use. Guess didn't oil it at time forgot about it. Thinned it on Kalamazoo 1" belt sander & pan of water to keep it cool gor rust out. Put a sharp edge on it.

This blade has sentimental value to me.
My girlfriend in 1970's was Carol she was smarter than me, valedictorian of Kalani high school top grades in collage at University of Hawaii. Part owner in book store always nose in books. Loved animals used to take her & dogs to Waimanalo beach that allowed dogs.
Then I would go Surf at breaks not too far away. Kua a black lab would chase frisbee into
water till your arm got tired. Would wait in the shade of trees for me to come pick her up. She found this knife in place called Sherwood forest.

She loved camping
too. We did great hikes & outer island camping trips. Fond memories. Picture of me early 70's
Just started carving ice later became good side business caving for hotels. Working banquets
Sheraton Waikiki, surfing, good times.

Wasn't going to let this vintage Solingen get rusty again🤪. Thinned it put sharp edge, & oiled. Found leather sheath on eBay under 10
dollars. Nice cowhide leather for the price.

This may be wishful thinking but I think they have an anniversary coming up next year. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason for stock on the 1922 drying up is also partially because they've started producing a new anniversary line that comes out next year.

Since I picked up another Herder both had the same type handle the 1910 & Japan style gyuto. Since no bolster at all needed to give the wood more protection. I used Stefan Keller's mix may he RIP. It helps give it water resistance & easy to clean.
