Bought on here for $200, selling for the same shipped US. Friction fit saya. Excellent knife that’s been popular here for a reason, I pretty much just bought too many gyuto at once including finally catching a Raquin and a Heiji and this one is falling by the wayside. Tall, thin at the edge, flat; the grind is convex in the middle and tapers towards the spine as well as the edge (think a cross section of a lens from high school physics). Thin tip and good food release, and I really like the edge it takes and how it holds.

So nobody gets surprised: while cleaning it up I just found this ding on the spine, I thought it was schmutz but it’s a nick in the metal. Never affected use or function though.

Is it just me or is masashi stainless cladding particularly soft? Mine scratches up easier than expected.

Neither this one nor my petty seems particularly susceptible to scratching, I suspect the nick must have been a hit from another knife, maybe in my bag or something
