Mazaki 270 Sujihiki: iron clad shirogami 2. 275mm heel to tip, 41mm tall at heel, 208 grams. Purchased here: SOLD - $200 and Under Part 2: Mazaki, Yoake, Nigara, Matsubara
After purchase, I sent it to JKI for wide bevel sharpening and refinishing ($120 and a little wait). Of course, they did a fantastic job. It has cut nothing since then and needs a good home. It still has a partially cracked ferrule. The blade looks significantly better than any brand new in box Mazaki I've ever seen (a few). "Choil shot" (for those who value such) is neutral to slight righty but I can't get a good pic of same. $235 shipped (SOLD)
Heiji 210 Sujihiki: iron clad Iwasaki carbon. 218mm heel to tip, 36mm tall at heel, 140g. Toasted chestnut handle. I purchased this from an individual who purchased it directly from Heiji, lightly used (or not at all, can't remember). Anyway, it went to JKI with the above Mazaki for their "Gesshin Heiji" spa treatment ($100). It came out nicer than any Heiji I've seen (more than a few). Choil is gently rightly bias. Note: the cladding comes down really close to the edge. Like, very close. I can't detect iron on the edge and I've not had one that comes this close. I believe I'm pricing it accordingly as it could be an issue, or not. I just want to be transparent. JKI didn't say anything about it at all. It hasn't been used since return from JKI. $165 shipped SOLD
