Any feedback on this knife would be great. I'm still eyeing a Tanaka Kyuzo EH Migaki, but this is similar specs. If the Migoto were to be in stock first, I might grab it over the TK.
I don't think this really applies for the AS which is hand-polished by Lee. I think the AS Migoto is way harder to get given that there has only been 1 and it's been ages since the first one released.Hopefully someone with that exact Migoto AS can chime in, but in general TxK Migaki will have better F&F (nicely rounded choil, etc) and a thinner grind compared with Migoto. One plus for Migoto IME is that the edge feels more robust without going into workhorse territory.
Both are going to be top class performers, and if you can “only” get a Migoto, you’ll be a very happy knife buyer. I think Migotos fly a little bit under the radar for how great they are. Personally I also think 255 is the perfect length for a Sakai knife — the 240 TxKs run a tad short for me.
Good to know on that, I was not sure how the rare the Migoto was to have in stock.I don't think this really applies for the AS which is hand-polished by Lee. I think the AS Migoto is way harder to get given that there has only been 1 and it's been ages since the first one released.
