I dislike attempts to rewrite history
I just stumbled across this on YouTube. (I'm following on from a previous thread, which is now closed for some reason).
I find myself agreeing with some of what he has to say. Probably not all of it. It's difficult for me to be sure as to what I agree with and disagree with—it's a complex and multi-faceted issue.
One thing that struck me strongly though is the similarity of Bon Appétit to reality TV shows such as Big Brother. There is definitely something in the concept that has little to do with cooking, and a lot to do with voyeurism and deliberately fostering a fan base that likes to watch personalities.
One thing I have always thought is that Bon Appétit is a channel I watched for entertainment more than to learn something new about cooking.
