MUNETOSHI 195mm ‘ALL-ROUNDER’
With inexpensive saya
$120. SOLD
CONUS shipping & PayPal included
Patina, as always, is free.
White 2 iron clad
Magnolia D handle w horn ferrule
Blade, handle to tip: 210mm
Edge, heel to tip: 197mm
Blade height @ heel: 52mm
Spine thickness @ heel ≅ 4mm
Spine thickness 1/2 way from heel to tip ≅2mm
Weight: 154g
Purchased from a KKF member. The seller claimed to have used it 4-5 times, and never sharpened it. That sounds right because it’s in great shape and needed a few passes over a 3K stone to resolve some typical out-of-the-box microchipping. I made only a couple cuts to check my sharpening.
The profile, called an “all-rounder,” (as originally sold by JNS probably) appears to be a rock-chopper’s dream. But it works equally well with a sort of rolling push cut, dipping into the cut with the tip not anchored to the board. Very nice in hand. I think it would make an awesome large BBQ knife.
There’s a hairline crack in the saya near the pin (indicated on a photo) that’s currently no problem. Capillary action with some wood glue might solve it.
Thanks for looking.
