So here are a couple of stones I never thought I would have to sell...

First is a Nakayama Maruka Iromono
139 x 83 x 21
570g
hardness: 2.5
cured with clear lacquer
$390

This stone is just awesome. Unusually soft for something this fine and for that reason it's capable of some outstanding Kasumi polish. Being so soft, I actually think it is slightly trickier to use than harder stones as you have to be more delicate with pressure. That being said once you master it, it makes the type of finish that dreams are made from. When it's wet a beautiful deep nebulous swirl comes out, and with a maruka stamp on one end what more could you really want. I am very sad to part with this stone, but needs must.

SOLD
Next is the first stone that really made my jaw drop when it arrived. It basically has everything. It is a stunning thing to behold and puts a smile on my face whenever I go into my workshop. Super clean white colour permeated by dapples of blue renge and golden namazu....utterly, utterly beautiful. This was also the first stone that truly made me realise what a joy the feeling of sharpening an edge could be. It was my first suita that I got from Watanabe a few years ago and it sort of changed everything for me.
It being from Okudo it is of course the "king of suitas". That means it is FAST. With just a couple of strokes the liquid becomes jet black and it is incredibly satisfying to see. The edges it leaves are phenomenal and it can leave a very nice polish as well. It is on the slightly harder end of the scale so the polish will be very bright unless you build up some slurry first, but it is not a particularly difficult stone to figure out. This really is one of my all-time favourites.

Okudo Aorenge Shirosuita
169 x 80 x 20
656g
hardness: 4 (52hsd @3.066μm)
cured in cashew
$400 SOLD

and finally.....

an unknown stone, maybe Hideryama
186 x 66 x 23
807g (including base)
Hardness: lv. 3
sealed and affixed to base
$100

Super nice stone and very fast. Makes great contrast and is very easy to use. Has a small iron spot though (can be seen at top of first image) which is no problem for sharpening but can scratch cladding if polishing directly over it so have priced it to reflect that. Great little stone nevertheless.
