    Hi all,

Just came across this forum trying to research a particular grind.

I’m a knife maker, predominantly doing kitchen knives. The forum looks like a great resource to expand my knowledge of what’s out there.

Hope to be able to share some pics of my work here soon.

    Thanks
    Matt

Welcome Matt! Do you make stock removal or forged knives? Any particular shapes/grinds/steels you gravitate to? Can't wait to see your wares!

Hi Caleb, I do a mix of stock removal and forged blades. I’m currently doing a lot more forging as I’ve been focusing on mosaic Damascus and keyhole integrals.
If I’m doing stainless it’ll be stock removal, monosteel carbon it just depends on my mood.
I’ll add some pics once I’m able. Need to make sure I’m following the rules.
    Thanks
    Matt

Hi Nemo, I’m in Canberra, Australia. I was researching and working on my first S grind. Currently working on one 53mm tall at the heel, 4.3mm thick. It’s around 210mm long. Slices without wedging in hard sweet potato but still needs some refining for an effortless slice at the heel. The tip and mid blade are cutting like a laser.

Thank you Matus, are you also a knife maker? I'm keen to share my work here but I think I need to be a hobbyest craftsman to post images of my work...

Thank you Matus, I'll get a few pics of previous pieces up. I'm not looking to sell anything currently but I'm going to look more closely at the Hobbyest membership regardless. I'll have a look for some of your work.\

Just up the road from me.

S grinds can offer a pretty good tradeoff between thinness and food release.

A number of forum member knifemakers have used S grinds or variatons of them. You may get some useful info if you start a new thread, probably in the "Workshop" forum.

Just off the Hume, just north of the Murray.

I look forward to learning something in your thread.
