Happy to be joining this forum. I recently discovered Japanese knives and knife sharpening, it's quickly become an obsession! My most recent purchase just arrived yesterday, a Masakage Koishi Ko-Bunka. What a great little knife!!

I enjoy my koishi, especially once I softened those shoulders at the top of the bevel a little bit. Now that your world has opened.... There are so many great makers to try. My favorite at the moment is my Yoshikane SKD, which I would heartily recommend! Good steel, excellent grind and good taper. The model I have also has a hammered finish, though not forge scale (KU)
