This is a great Okudo suita, not the largest but the price reflects that. It doesn't need a nagura to get a slurry going but I found, as I always do, it's nicer with a diamond slurry. It's quite fast and finishes in the 8k range while retaining a nice amount of bite. The stone feels smooth in use and has a nice abrasive quality to it. It does absorb a bit of water but after a half a minute or so that stops.
I have sealed the bottom and sides with clear varnish. As you can see a small corner is missing from the bottom along the length of the stone so I filled it with epoxy resin to reinforce it. The stone is glued to a nice piece of quarter sawn Meranti which I varnished as well of course. Just a great little Okudo suita.
I'd like to get €95 or $105 for it. Shipping is €13 within the EU and international shipping is $28.
