Lots of banding in iron, and iron doesn't like to darken, feels more wear resistant
Feels like white steel with a balanced heat treat, a little toward wear resistant, not super hard but hard

Half ura, sharpen like an asymmetric double bevel. A little tricky seeming admittedly
Low spots on wide bevels
Neck installed flush to bottom of handle
A little rust
Wide bevels sharpened. One of the trickiest knives I've straightened
Goes "fwpppp" through potatoes, good release and thinness
Thinning marks on ura from when I though it was regular ura. I can refinish if desired.

Old style of nakiri. Advantage of half ura is the knife isn't as heavy or delicate, similar release and precision as proper single bevel

I propose this as our new reference for how a knife cuts for bst posts.

Less p’s = more glide but less release on potatoes.
More p’s = more resistance but better release on potatoes.

Been meaning to tell you there were some lefty teruhide ishido honyakis that sold awhile back. I didn't buy them though

Tried to buy a kawachi no kami but was told it was restricted
Only had luck going thru zen markets and they don’t seem to access all the auctions
Plus I’m not really facile with kanji
Any tips appreciated
