Opinion: Every kid should be given a knife when they move out

Ok, hear me out on this.

Every kid should be given a knife when they move out, but not just any knife. It should be a 12inch (30cm) scimitar.

You may be asking yourself why this knife in particular? Well I am happy you asked.

• It is perfect for cutting 11inch (27.94cm) personal pizzas
• it works great for cutting sandwiches as well
• It can be a great conversation starter if it is unique
• In case of extreme emergency it can be used for self defense
• I just think they are cool

I am open to hearing other opinions on a better choice in knife!

Doubt my son will have any open slots in his knife block by the time he's 18 or 21 (after college). He surprised the heck out of me by wanting a vegetable cleaver last month. And then he turned around and negotiated a discount with Butch for another knife

My kids won’t get a knife unless they can make it sharp. Only 7 and 10 now, so we’ve got some time.

I got my 8 year old a 12” dexter butcher knife and now he’s a garlic mincing champion. I’m not a monster though, he wears a level 4 glove.
