OT: Mixed Wood Species when making boards : Movement

Off topic for a woodworker ......but often with the *board fads*, once sees mixed species of wood in a single board.

For the stability of it and whether the answer is different between end vs. edge, is, but the expansions/contraction rate of wood of different species of wood, or even the -glue- that holds it, does all these factors come into play when a woodworker is fabbing up a board and trying to take all these into equation - and or- is a MONO species board the best board out there, at the end of the day with as minimal glue joints as possible. What goes into deciding what -block- size to use when making endgrain.

Yes, a question. John can chime in or anyone that has a POV on it. I've often wondered about this - when I see mixed wood species in boards, and thinking about expansion/contraction....potential cracking.
