Pakka wood smell

Hello KKF, new member here, I bought a Fujiwara FKM for a family member. I rounded the coil and sanded smooth the handle, but the pakka wood handle started to smell bad. I've tried using soap and what not to clean off any pakka wood dust that might be causing it, but the smell is still there. Any advice? Should I oil it?

Gunstock oil would seal it, like Tru Oil.
