Hi, I bought this knife a couple years ago and am now curious as to its real value and details. The blade is single beveled (left handed) and is 12" long, the total knife is about 17.5 inches

Yeah, that yanagi(?) definitely needs some major TLC. Do you have a pic of the whole thing? Regardless, you should send it to Dave Martell at Japanese Knife Sharpening, for sure.
 
It might help to know where you bought it.

they are about $60-70 for a 300mm yanagiba last time i looked
 
I think I overpaid for the knife, but I am sending it out to get fixed up anyways. It was a nice knife when I got it, but one bad sharpening job and I haven't used it since (two years ago!), thanks again for the help though!
 
The second pic reads 'Yasugi White' but you probably knew that.
 
Hey, hey, where can I get a white steel left handed 300 mm yanagi for 70 bucks?
