Haven’t had white port in an awfully long time; thanks for the reminder!

I do a lot of pork shoulders, usually for pulled pork. Did an 8 lb one that cost me all of $12 on sale. What would the flavor gain be for spending $45? If you think it’s worth it, I’m game to try.

I smoke cigars once in a while and have discovered that the difference between a $5 cigar and a $20 cigar is usually $15, but I still get them once in a while!

I will steal that one. It’s excellent.

Big barbecue, maybe 30 people or so

Jay does most of the apps
Lentil purée on cacio pepe crostini

Protein
Grilled Tuna steaks with caper and lemon
3 kinds of sausages with mustard pickles on baguette
Chicken thighs

Salad
Tabbouleh with couscous
Cole slaw
Chickpea and carrot salad
Sautéed peppers and onions

First company meal in my tiny kitchen, I’m going slow here until we can figure out the cleanup regimen. Only two burners and no oven

Appetizers
Tuna with store bought crackers
Olives

Primi
Gazpacho

Secondi
Chicken braised with tomato’s and honey
Spanish bean stew?
Cabbage thoran

My guess is the more I think about this, the more I’m gonna change it!

hotter than the Fourth of July, gonna make some salads and fish. I put the anova oven out in the hallway (don’t ask) so that shouldn’t heat the place up too much. Got 8-10 coming

Meze:
Moroccan crisp tender carrot salad
Watermelon peach and tomato salad with mint
Beet and fig salad, feta

Main
Roast salmon
Tabboule
French lentil salad

Been doing these for a few weeks now, thought I’d include them here sometimes. I usually just do one course, put some olives and store bought dips out first.

Sliced tomatoes
Basmati rice

Rosh hashonah 2024

Chopped liver

Brisket in a pressure cooker
Roast salmon
Crispy okra
Eggplant and chickpea Persian style
Peppers and onions
Sweet potatoes
Dill rice

Apples and honey
