Recommended knife stores in Chicago

Hi, I just moved downtown. Are there any nice japanese knife stores in the city that the forum recommends?

There's Japanese Knife Imports, but it's a bit of a commute. It's in Beverly Hills
The long-standing knife store in Chicago is Northwest Cutlery in the West loop (810 Lake st.). Worth a trip, but certainly not a store that specializes in Japanese knives (beyond Mac and Kikuichi).

Yeah I moved from Cali, JKI was just a short drive away. I've definitely been there multiple times just to stare at knives and bother Jon (thanks Jon you're the best).

First time I went a few years back, I hadn't really heard of JKI so I asked if they had any Masakage in stock haha.

It's a shame that Chicago doesn't have anything similar. I wonder if JKI will open one in Chicago. One can dream...

Welcome!, But Chicago is pretty bare for knife stores.
There's only one I know of is Town Cutler, but their selection isn't that wide.
