Hi everyone!

I recently got my first ever knife off KKF — and the seller kindly coated the blade with some renaissance wax before sending it to me just to protect it.

But I also found out renaissance wax isn’t food safe, and I want to be able to remove it completely before I use the knife.

Does anyone have experience with removing it or know what I might need to remove it completely? Thank you!

A few rubdowns with oil or fat should do the trick, especially if applied hot.

Solvents as Greasylake suggests are quicker, with mineral spirits likely to do a better job than acetone.

I use carburetor cleaner, typically used for car maintenance, to clean the oil and rust protection film from the blades during production.
