That's what it takes to get the good stuff.
Being in the right place at the right time with a pocket full of cash.

I was supposed to be dropping off today's packages at the Post Office, and then come right back so I could try to get caught up with my work.

Instead of coming right back, I bought a door first.

Nice door. That will rehandle a lot of maguro bochos.

So that's veneer, right?
Just one big thick piece of veneer. 2&1/2" thick x 35" wide and about 7 foot tall.
It is a solid, single piece of quartersawn redwood.
Looking at the endgrain I am guessing that the tree it was cut from had to be about 10+ feet thick.
The curly figure covers about 1/2 of the slab and then fades.
Much better curly figure than I can usually get.

I tried to haggle with the guy but he said "You're just going to cut it up into a bunch of knife handle pieces."
I asked "How do you know? I don't even know you."
He said, "It's a small town and my ex works at the Post office".

i will give you $34 for it...just ship it to me. I need a table.

Boy howdy, that would make a nice table, wooden it?

I hope you guys notice the commendable self discipline I have by not making any comments like;
how many cans you know would have to collect to get $34 or what that equates to in dumpster diving time.
Not even any comments about posting on the forums during happy hour.
I thought I was exercising remarkable self restraint.

I need to start walking around with a pocket full of cash.

So are the blocks all cut up yet? LOL!!! If so, you have my address....

It was my rent money.

I won't be cutting it until after the OKCA show.
Until then I will have it locked up in my storage building.
Otherwise my boss would end up selling it to those dang guitar builders who show up snooping around my stash.

Boss? Who said anything about a boss?
