Scorching Handles

I recall a thread somewhere about how to scorch wood handles, but can't seem to find it. Anyone have any tips for burning/scorching handles for aesthetics and texture?

I did it once in the past. I dont like my Ho wood handle so I burned/tanned it

Quick update, I scorched my JNS Ho wood d-handles today and they came out great. Wrapped the ferrule with a wet rag and some aluminum foil to protect it. After torching, I hit it with a bit of steel wool. thanks @Hz_zzzzzz
